The Pediatric Intestinal Transplant Program at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford is the only program in Northern California that performs intestinal transplantation (also called small bowel transplant).

Created in 2001 with the Pediatric Liver Transplant team, the Pediatric Intestinal Transplant Program has helped intestinal transplantation progress from an experimental procedure to a life-saving therapy. Major advances in surgical techniques, immunosuppressive medications, infection prevention and treatment, patient selection, and timely placement on the transplant waiting list have helped improve outcomes significantly.
